The roots of Colour therapy dates back thousands of years. Colour and light are used by trained therapists to treat a variety of emotional, physical and psychological illnesses. Since the early 20th century psychologists have used the Luscher Colour Test as an important diagnostic tool. In the Luscher test, a patient's choices from a variety of coloured cards can reveal useful and reliable information about their state of mind. The energy and healing property of different colours is also appreciated by modern medicine: for example, exposure to blue light is used to treat premature babies suffering from jaundice.
It is a well known fact that has been scientifically proven that all things vibrate at a certain frequency no matter what it is. It's the same with bugs (Diseases) that get into your system, whether they are viral, bacterial, parasitic or fungal. They all give off their own unique vibrational frequency.
Colour therapy is the use of colour in a variety of ways to promote health and healing. The different colours we see in the world around us are the result of the eye perceiving light vibrating at different frequencies. Sunlight, or full-spectrum light, holds all the wavelengths of colour in the visible spectrum (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, and magenta) as well as infrared and ultraviolet light, which cannot be seen. Used to treat both physical and emotional problems, colour therapy may involve exposure to coloured lights, massages using colour-saturated oils, contemplating and visualizing colours.
Colour is a property of light, which consists of many different electromagnetic waves of energy. When light falls upon the photoreceptor cells of the retina, it is converted into electric impulses, which then travel to the brain and trigger the release of hormones. How often have you heard the phrases feeling blue, being in a black mood or 'in the pink', red with anger and green with envy? Without being aware of it, these sayings relate to how we feel and are indicative of the imbalance in our bodies. So instinctively, we all know something about colour. We know that a 'hot' colour is red and that cool colours are green and blue.
It is well-established that in many people a lack of sunlight experienced in northern climates during the winter months can cause depression --a condition known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) which can have a devastating effect on our general well-being. Daily exposure to full-spectrum light from a special bright-light box has been shown to improve SAD by suppressing daytime elevation of the hormone melatonin (a substance that promotes sleep) and increasing the amount of the mood-elevating brain chemical serotonin.
A Colour therapist is trained to understand colour at a more profound level and will analyze the aura, and then treat any imbalances by irradiating localized areas or the whole body with light of a specific colour and frequency. Treatment may also involve placing coloured fabrics on the body or using solarised (coloured) water. Colour therapists can also advise their clients on the best use of colour at home and at work, and in their choice of clothes. Colour Therapy is referred to as a vibrational therapy as it is all about vibrational frequencies, since the human body absorbs light that is made up of the colour spectrum, each colour containing a variety of hues vibrating to set frequencies. Examining a person's electromagnetic field or aura will show up any imbalance of colour, or reveal a colour that is vibrating at the wrong frequency. These imbalances can lead to physical illness if not treated.
For centuries colour has played an important role. The Ancient Egyptians were listed as having a number of coloured cures to their credit as far back as 1500 BC, one of which was for treatment of cataracts. Archaeologists discovered that the Egyptians, like the Atlanteans, also incorporated healing rooms into their temples, specifically designed so that entering sunlight was refracted into rainbow colours of the spectrum.
